Kids make great accessories
The staff Halloween party marked the culmination of my first week of work, and I have to admit that I wasn't really sure what to expect. I had spent most of the week darting in and out of the office between meetings and appointments that I hadn't been able to reschedule and I think I had met all of three people outside of my immediate team. Considering I still didn't have those names straight, I didn't think I was exactly about to be the life of the party.
Thus the two princess hybrids at my side. When in doubt about how to act or what to wear, I like to bring along my two cute sidekicks. They act as great distractions and if push comes to shove can even double as accessories.
I pulled out my brand new key card and buzzed us in through the back of the building. For the last year and some my office has been my couch and my work wardrobe has been yoga pants and promotional t-shirts. I was getting a bit of a thrill about showing off my brand new 'real' office to my young daughters.
I pulled them gently into the building where we were greeted by all of my new coworkers dressed up in impressive costumes. Or they would have greeted us if they hadn't all been absorbed by the intense pumpkin carving competition taking place. And I'd go into details about that, but really, all I need to say is that blue prints had been prepared and dry ice had been bought. Do you really need to know any more?Continued on the next page
