Ode to Oprah: Talk Show Titan to Tape Last Program
The clock is ticking and the moment is nigh.
For the legions of fans that follow the gospel of Oprah, the world is truly coming to an end.
On May 25th, the talk-show superstar will tape her final show, leaving millions of viewers not only heartbroken, but also bewildered as to what to do with that extra hour of time that will be freed up with the ending of the long-running program.
Oprah Winfrey, the woman with the silver tongue and the Midas touch, will be leaving the world of daily television to move behind the cameras, as she launches her full time gig with her eponymous Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
Eight episodes before what is sure to be a record-breaking viewer finale, audience members at Oprah’s Chicago studios listen raptly as their idol offers some reflection: “It’s our audience I’ll miss the most,” she announces to one of the last groups of admirers to watch the show taping.According to a recent article Oprah will showcase what is sure to be a star-studded spectacular event which will air as a two-part special on May 23rd and 24th. While details have yet to be determined, the title of the programs: "Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular" will not likely disappoint.
At least not for those who have lifted this icon to stratospheric levels since she first appeared on the daytime talk-show scene in 1986. At the recent show taping, an emotional audience responded to their hero with a range of emotions. Many cried, evidently mourning the imminent loss of the woman who, through her unique talents, was able to make millions of viewers around the world feel like she was their best friend.
"She has taught me to be a better person," said Janice Carlin of Indiana, during one of the last show tapings. Julie Adams from Norfolk, Nebraska stated "Oprah has inspired me in the way I handle my kids, the way I have friendships, the way I live my life."Continued on the next page
