Is Casey Anthony’s Acquittal Indicative of Society’s Growing Desensitization to Immorality?
I have been in a state of shock since hearing that Casey Anthony was acquitted, and I can’t help but wonder how 12 law-abiding citizens could come to such a conclusion, and so quickly. It’s as if their minds were pretty much made up and they were in unison prior to going into the deliberation room. I just don’t understand how this could be after hearing all of the testimony that clearly pointed to Casey’s guilt in the disappearance and subsequent death of her daughter.
Did they forget that this young woman was the last person to see this child, and that she covered up her disappearance for a month, and partied her butt off while waiting for the body to decompose, before reporting it to the police. Even Ray Charles can see that this woman is responsible for that poor little girl’s death, and he’s both dead and blind.
I have ascertained for years, society’s desensitization to immoral behavior. This jury’s acquittal of Casey Anthony is a prime example of it. The more accepting that the media and the entertainment industry becomes with immoral behavior, the more desensitized our society becomes in this regard because we witness immoral behavior on our television screens, the big screen, music lyrics, videos, and the praise of the perpetrators on awards shows, and GMA,Today, etc.. Hardly anything in society is unacceptable today. Consequently, no one is holding themselves or anyone else to higher standards.
Far too many of us are developing the attitude that you can do whatever you darn well please, but don’t you dare lie about it when you get caught doing it. That’s the message those jurors sent to Casey. Now what’s up with that?
