Could the Belt Purse Be the New Fanny Pack?
For those of you who never expected the fanny pack to come back, you would be pleasantly surprised to know that it is about to be revived this Spring. Apparently the "belt purse" is the new must have fashion trend of 2011. Don't be mistaken, these aren't the nylon neon colored bags your mom used to wear. The belt purse is supposed to be an elegant take on the traditional fanny pack.
For starters, the belt purse is made of leather whereas the traditional fanny pack is made of nylon. Secondly, the belt purse is meant to be worn at the waist instead of on the hip. Also, the belt purse is much smaller then the fanny pack. It should only be able to hold a mirror, lipstick, some cash, and a credit card or two. It's perfect for a night out on the town. Designers expect the belt purse to replace the clutch this year. Marc Jacobs has even designed a belt purse for men. Designers that have introduced the belt purse into their spring lineups include Jaeger London, Emilio Pucci, Hermes, and Diane von Furstenburg.
There are many ways to wear the belt purse this spring. Always wear it high on your waist and sideways. You can wear it by itself, or you can wear it with other belts for a more sophisticated look. Pair it with bold retro-looks like big glasses or bright red lipstick to create your own unique style. Most importantly, have fun with it, it is a fanny pack after all and fannys are always a good time.
