SNL Skit Brings Together Foxconn Workers, Whiny Tech Bloggers
It's about time Saturday Night Live did this skit.
You've been reading the complaints from tech bloggers. The iPhone 5 has a slight purple haze (reportedly just like other phones). Thanks, guys, I can't get that damned Hendrix song out of my head anymore because of you.
The iPhone 5 doesn't have Google Maps built in anymore (but they're working on it). Wait, you paid through the nose to use an Apple-built maps and navigation system that will self-correct and grow better over the next few months and years, but you long for the competitor's absolutely free product, while scoffing at the very idea of actually buying their equally enjoyable but far less expensive phone in thanks for Google's early innovation?
I can't tell you how many times I've had to juxtapose, in a single week, the horror stories about factory conditions at Foxconn, where America's go-to-phone is being built, and complaints about its lack of divine perfection. With one worker strike after another, with each carefully worker suicide swept under the rug, I think the Son of Man Himself would prefer the iPhone had never been called the 'Jesus Phone'.
I guess the writers at SNL have seen the hypocrisy of tech bloggers turning Apple's sweet, expensive waters into whine.... This video is a must-watch, as SNL host Christina Applegate plays a tech reporter who, in a wish-it-were-true gotcha style, brings together three tech bloggers to kvetch about their iPhone experience, then lets them confront three Foxconn workers, who show their lack of sympathy in a very funny way.
Many thanks to SNL for trying, in some small way, to put things into perspective.
