30th Anniversary of Assassination Attempt on Ronald Reagan
Thirty years ago today, John Hinckley tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan by firing six shots at the president as he walked out of a Washington hotel.
According to reports, Hinckley said he shot president Reagan to impress actress Jodie Foster. During the incident, Reagan suffered a chest wound and made a remarkable recovery. However, his press secretary, James Brady, was shot in the head and was permanently disabled. Additionally, a secret service agent and a D.C. police officer were shot.
The attempt on the presidents life was captured and the video is as compelling today as it was 30 years ago.
Hinckley, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity, is still held in a mental hospital.
