The Future of Apple, is Apples Past
As a long time Apple fan boy, and worshiper at the altar of Jobs, today is a very sad day for me - Steve Jobs has stepped down as CEO of Apple. The exact reasons are unclear, it’s only stated that it’s because he no longer feels he can perform his duties. I would imagine it’s most likely due to his health problems that he has been battling for a number of years - which we can only assume - are worsening somewhat.
Apple and Steve Jobs are one and the same. Steve lives and breathes Apple, and Apple would be nothing had Steve not rejoined the company in 1997 and revived the failing brand with his all in one funky iMac, iPod and all that followed. So you have to wonder... how is Apple going to survive in the future without him?
Well... Steve has known about his health problems for some time, and has a detailed succession plan in place already. This started with an internal project called Apple University, which Steve has used to ensure that his core values are firmly instilled in each and every member of staff.
You can be sure, that with each and every decision made, the management will be asking “What Would Steve Do” and stepping very carefully to ensure they keep the fandom on-side. Certainly, Apple won’t repeat the mistake of allowing a sugar-water salesman to get behind the reigns of his dream ever again like he did just prior to his ousting by John Sculley in 1985.Continued on the next page
