Microsoft and Adobe Release Security Patches
As expected, Microsoft has released a security patch to address vulnerabilities in Windows and Office products. Additionally, Adobe has released an update to
On the operating system front Microsoft's updates, which were released on Tuesday, include fixes for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7, among other things. As for Office, all three most recent versions (that includes Office XP, Office 2003, and 2007 Office) of the suite were affected and have been patched.
The exploits were categorized as critical, and allowed remote code execution and other nasty little issues. All the vulnerabilities are detailed in Microsoft's May security bulletin.
Meanwhile, Adobe has released an update to its Shockwave Player to address vulnerabilities in version 22.214.171.1246 and earlier, for both Windows and Apple platforms. The latest version, 126.96.36.1999 addresses the risks, detailed in the Adobe security bulletin.
All users are advised to update all software immediately.
