RIM recalls 1000 Playbook Due to Buggy OS
RIM has requested about 1000 Playbook units to be recalled. 16GB 7-inch tablet was only model affected. It’s known to have a buggy OS that doesn’t allow for a smooth initial set-up process. Fortunately for both customers and RIM, most products were identified to be in the distribution process, rather than in customers’ possession. If your Playbook is having an issue, check the list of serial numbers of affected models and contact RIM for assistance.
I guess RIM didn’t want the customers to have a bad first impression of its products. However, I’m already very disappointed with RIM’s preparation. RIM decided to make a vague, nonsensical statement about why Playbook should be the customer’s No.1 choice. Now, there’s a hardware problem. 1000 is a huge number considering the total sales of the Playbook. RIM has a little margin for error now. One more blunder and the customers will turn their backs against RIM.
