Next iPhone Could Be a Global Phone
If you are a Verizon Wireless iPhone user and happen to do a lot of traveling outside of the USA, then you are probably upset at the inability of being able to use the handset outside the US. Well, that may just change with the next version of the Apple iPhone for Verizon.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Verizon’s CFO Fran Shammo mentioned this tantalizing news in the article, when being questioned about the handset slow growth of the iPhone for the wireless provider. The CFO stated: “The fluctuation, I believe, will come when a new device from Apple is launched, whenever that may be, and that we will be, on the first time, on equal footing with our competitors on a new phone hitting the market, which will also be a global device."
Verizon’s first quarter result when the iPhone was launched was only 2.2 percent in comparison to 2.5 percent in the fourth quarter. Apple’s COO Tim Cook also mentioned during a conference call with Fran Shammo, was able to get SK Telecom in South Korea and Saudi Telecom in Saudi Arabia to carry the CDMA version of the iPhone. The Apple COO also mentioned that a global iPhone would most likely use Verizon 4G LTE network.
