The 1000+ Dirty Words You Can't Text In Pakistan
George Carlin would be rolling out of his grave to put on a new show with all the obscene words banned in Pakistan recently. You know the George Carlin that made famous the “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.” Those words can be found here if you really want to know what they were back then.
Anyhow, Carlin would be laughing his way to another straight-faced money in the bank mini-series with all the words that Pakistan has banned its citizens from texting. The list is over 1000 words that the country's telecommunications regulator has officially banned.
For example, 50 different ways to say the F-bomb are banned; and 17 versions of “butt” are banned. One example, is “flogging the dolphin.” I'm sure the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are against that one too.
In addition, 51 versions of “ass” and 1 version of “arse” are banned. There are 17 versions of “tit” banned in Pakistan. Carlin would have been figuring out how to say all 17 for just one show!
There are 33 versions of the last half of the nickname of the South Carolina sports team's name. You can go here if you really want to know the answer to that banned word. But what is even more amazing is that there are 8 versions of “foot” that are banned in Pakistan.
In total, the list includes exactly 1,109 words and phrases in English and 506 in the national language of Pakistan, Urdu. But apparently the minor regional languages are free to "flog the dolphin" all they want for the time being as the government has yet compiled the list for their languages.
With so much new material, he could have resurrected his career. It's too bad Mr. Carlin died in 2008.
