Stop Filling My Twitter Feed With Live Updates From Events
I'm probably going to get a kicking from lots of people for this but there's nothing I hate more on my Twitter feed than updates from a conference / event / presentation / speech.
Even if I'm interested in the subject, it makes no sense mixed up with all the other snippets of info in my feed.
Yes, it's great that you can add hashtags to tweets and then use Twitter search to get a live stream of updates from the event. But surely there's a better way to provide a live stream without clogging up other people's Twitter feeds?
One way could be to use something like Posterous to provide less frequent updates. Maybe a live blog or hourly updates. Or Twitter could get more clever on how it categorizes tweets.
For example, Twitter could allow you to add tags that basically say 'file this Tweet but don't put it in my feed'. Then, they could provide a feed of any tweets with that tag. That way, anyone interested in the event or subject could get a live feed of what's happening, without you spamming all of your usual followers.
So when you're at Event X you could tag live updates from the event with say %eventx. That would then appear in chronological order in a feed for anyone to subscribe or view later.
This wouldn't only work well for events and conferences. Students could also use it to collaborate on notes from lectures and the like.
