Sneak Peek at Google's Chrome OS in Tablet Hardware
Fast on the heels of Apple's iPad which came out last week to rave reviews (and some rants on its lack of Flash support) is what may be Google's response: Chrome OS running on tablet devices.
Is this a final design? Far from it, but it was posted on Chromium's website as a potential view of what Google's Chrome user interface may look like inside tablet hardware.
Chromium is the open source project for the Chrome browser as well as Chrome OS.
The photo series of the open-source OS displays an as-needed virtual keyboard, generous display space, the ability to navigate between multiple windows, the full suite of Google Apps already built-in, and a custom margin featuring favorite shortcuts.
Will Google push for a tablet of their own running Chrome OS, the way they partnered with HTC's handsets to run Android, or will Chrome OS come out designed to run on multiple tablets? All of that remains to be seen.
What do you think of the tablet interface? Would you consider this a viable alternative to the iPad?
