Canon EOS 7D - The Video Challenge - Page 2
Another thing that is very cool with this breed of SLRs is to quickly switch from HD video to still mode and doing things like dragging the shutter. Stuff you can't do in video. For example, we got some great night shots at 1 sec. exposures. Then we rendered “HD videos” in After Effects from pans and zooms on 5K images with room to spare, applied some lighting effects and voila - covered the shot. No problem.
For capturing video you will need to purchase a special 60 MB/sec Flash memory card. You may want a few as they fill up quickly - 8GB for about 15 minutes of shooting. Although the card can be dumped to a laptop in about 4 minutes and you are good to go.
All in all I’m very impressed with the Canon EOS 7D. For many, many professional jobs it can be your primary camera. The quality of video capture is not at the level of much higher priced video cameras, but still very impressive. As B-roll or for backup, it would also be great. As a digital SLR for still work, it’s fantastic, capturing an amazing 8 frames/sec. - a 28 MB raw file or 8 MB jpeg.
