SMPR Year Two. What’s Hot, What’s the Bother?

    http://www.radicaltrust.ca/ 2008/ 10/ 03/ smpr-year-two/

The social media / blogging glitterati have sporadically debated the strategy and tactical execution of  SMPRs over the last year. The comments/no comments debate still has traction in this space.  Tamera Kremer raises a call for better SEO in SMPR development. Others claim that the general public is not the target of this content.

Only as strong as the weakest link

    http://eyecube.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 10/ 01/ only-as-strong-as-the-weakest-link/

Todd Defren of SHIFT communications and the PR Squared blog highlights an important issue for all agencies: Have one or two ’specialists’ isn’t enough if your entire agency is involved in a discipline - in this case Digital & Emerging Media PR. I’m a big believer that in order to really understand social media you have to be engaged in it.

    Links That Stink

    http://blogs.gcigroup.com/ fineprint/ 2008/ 09/ 30/ links-that-stink/

Links That Stink September 30th, 2008 by GCI Canada Staff Todd Defren posts about a practice that is just plain wrong: commenting on people’s blogs under a false name, with the intention of driving “traffic” back to a client’s own blog or website. I put the word traffic in “” because it can’t really be called that.

Noone Likes [What/Who] Appears To Be a Friend-Whore

    http://www.netsquared.org/ blog/ alexsteed/ noone-likes-whatwho-appears-be-frien…

Noone Likes [What/Who] Appears To Be a Friend-Whore Warning: The following inadvertently turned into something of a rant. The point, in the end, is that it is unwise to build a virtual social net without giving people context as to why you're trying to connect with them.

Are Bloggers Media? Yes, and They Make More $ Than You

    http://racetalkblog.com/ 2008/ 09/ 22/ are-bloggers-media-yes-and-they-make-more…

Are Bloggers Media? Yes, and They Make More $ Than You (Not only are bloggers - like Michael Arrington of TechCrunch - media, they’re also making more $ than the mainstream press) By Kyle Austin A few weeks ago Todd Defren at Pr Squared posed the question - Are Bloggers Media? His conclusion: Although they are not media, they are just as important (maybe more) and just as influential.

Only 56 Days Until Election Day

    http://clientserviceinsights.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ only-56-days-until-election…

What does this have to do with client service? In a tweet a week or two ago, Todd Defren stated that SHIFT Communications employees are being encouraged to vote before they come into work on election day. If they have to stand in line for 8 hours and don't make into the office, then so be it.

Twebinar 3, a Mashup of Heavy Hitters

    http://emersondirect.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 20/ twebinar-3-a-mashup-of-heavy-h…

So yesterday was the final Twebinar in the series of 3. I’ve written about how successful the other 2 were and this one did not disappoint. What makes these twebinars better than good, are the components, that in their own right are singularly successful.  Combined into a mashup of staccato like proportions though, they then take on a life of their own..

    Does Good Tech Need PR?

    http://politikly.com/ 2008/ 08/ 14/ does-good-tech-need-pr/

Tiny web tech companies pay $5k, $10k or more per month for PR agents to work the media, old and new, in hopes that it will help them find wider audiences. Big companies spend far, far more on PR. Great post. Since we're continually learning, unlearning and relearning what does and doesn't work within the evolution of all the new media, this is a valuable discussion.
