http://crookedtimber.org/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ old-research/
This week I received my copy of The Capability Approach, a fat book that contains a large number of essays on… yes, good guess. It's primarily written by social scientists or interdisciplinary oriented scholars-hence not so much the more philosophical side of that literature. ...

From LifeSite News by Hilary White LONDON, May 14, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a six hour debate in the House of Commons on the Labour government’s proposed Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill at least one MP was ready to note that the country is suffering from "wooly liberal thinking." However, Conservative barbs were offered the other way too.

Search engines for genealogy and family history research

    http://methodius.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ search-engines-for-genealogy-and-family…

Over the last ten years or so Google has become the most popular web search engine — to much so that “to google” has become synonymous with searching the web. It’s become a generic term. When Jackie Seaman announced her Growden reunion, I thought I’d do a web search for Growden, and started with Google because Firefox puts it so conveniently in the toolbar.

In Chicago a week or so ago I got together with a friend; we both live in the Bay Area, but it’s one of those quirks of travel that we could only get together when we were in another city at the same time). Gabe is working for a company that is developing a new virtual world.

    Triangle Dining: Korean Food

    http://offthebroiler.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ triangle-dining-korean-food/

On cold rainy days away from home, I want a taste of Jersey. For me, that means Korean food. The Korean community in the Triangle is relatively small, but it is growing steadily, and a  few restaurants have popped up to support the local taste for home style Korean dishes.

Ants swarm over Houston area, fouling electronics — NPR

Ants swarm over Houston area, fouling electronics — NPR I heard this story on NPR a couple of days ago, and now I see the NYTimes covered it.
