    The Crusades Encyclopedia has a nice collection of medieval primary source texts dating back to the time of the Crusades. Such texts include letters and manuscripts, such as: letter of Alexius I Comnenus, the Siege of Tyre according to Ibn Al Qalanisi, the Franks’ capture of Antioch, the Franks’ conquest Jerusalem, and Pope Urban II’s speech at Clermont.

    A quick visit to Visby

    Today I arrived for a quick visit to Gotland, an island in the Baltic Sea, and the medieval city Visby. Though here on business that not is connected with archaeology I was pleased to be greeted by a picture stone at the airport.   This was found in the church Stenkyrka and is and is dated to ca 700 AD.
