Quick, Block Del.icio.us
http://www.assortedstuff.com/ ?p=2544I’m not a fan of internet filtering systems. At all! Simply banning web sites doesn’t teach students anything about safely using the net and it excuses some educators from having to manage web access. However, I do understand that filters are a political reality and that there is some material on the internet that needs to be blocked from student view.

Adaptation versus adaptability
http://nlpers.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ adaptation-versus-adaptability.htmlDomain adaptation is, roughly, the following problem: given labeled data drawn from one or more source domains, and either (a) a little labeled data drawn from a target domain or (b) a lot of unlabeled data drawn from a target domain; do the following. missional ignorance
http://nextreformation.com/ ?p=2170In Reaching Out Henri Nouwen talks about the importance of weakness and poverty as we go out (Luke 10:4). You would live on Facebook if you could. Imagine a world where you could manage your entire life from Facebook – it’s not that far off! Right now, though, one thing missing is your academic life.

Getting Overinvolved in School
http://www.assortedstuff.com/ ?p=2542In this morning’s Post, a teacher from our overly-large school district has some things to say about parental involvement. His focus is not only the lack of participation, however, but on those who are “overinvolved” in their children’s education. 31 day comment challenge reflections
http://futura.edublogs.org/ 2008/ 05/ 18/ 31-day-comment-challenge-reflections/How are our online conversations part of our own learning? I’ve been loosely participating in the 31 Day Comment Challenge, (which is an effort to focus on improving blog comments through various activities.) It’s been a little bit of a learning curve for me to figure out how to use coComment,
