OK, we can breathe easier in regards to the problem of racism here in the United States, U.N. racism investigator to visit U.S. from Monday According to the story, Mr. Diene*, will…gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance Not sure what this gentleman hopes to accomplish on this visit, which by the way starts today.

Another note for next season’s men’s basketball schedule: Mike Cragg, associate athletic director and director of the Legacy Fund, told The Chronicle this morning that Duke and Xavier will square off at the Izod Center in the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. next year.

An interesting story on the wire today about Sen. Barack Obama playing word games with reporters on the back of his charter airplane. The game was called “Taboo,” and one person on the team gave hints about a certain word while his teammates guessed.

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s basketball team added another member to its 2008 signing class when Miles Plumlee signed a financial aid agreement to play for the Blue Devils next season. Plumlee originally signed a national letter of intent with Stanford but asked for and was granted his release after Trent Johnson left Stanford to take the head coaching job at LSU in early April.

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe announced on Thursday that offensive tackle Cameron Goldberg has been reinstated to the program. Goldberg was suspended from the program on April 15 for violation of team rules. "Cameron has done everything I asked him to do in a timely manner," Cutcliffe said.

After Duke received the paperwork to make Miles Plumlee’s signing official, head coach Mike Krzyzewski issued his first public comments about the 6-foot-10 forward and brother of 2009 signee Mason Plumlee. “We are fortunate to land a player of Miles’ caliber this late in the recruiting process,” Krzyzewski said.

While schools across the country lost scholarships because of poor academic performances, Duke and the ACC had little reason to fret when the NCAA released its 2006-2007 APR (Academic Progress Rate) data. Eight Duke teams achieved perfect scores of 1,000, while football finished tied for third in the country with a 977.
