The Author dies, the world yawns, and writers keep scribbling

    http://jseliger.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 12/ 01/ the-author-dies-the-world-yawns-and…

This originated as an e-mail, but then I realized it was actually a blog post and edited it accordingly. Roland Barthes begins The Death of the Author thus: ‘This was woman herself, with her sudden fears, her irrational whims, her instinctive worries, her impetuous boldness, her fussings, and her delicious sensibility.’ Who is speaking thus?

    Inchie Ornament Fun Continues

    http://bitze.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 11/ 28/ inchie-ornament-fun-continues/

Here is an inchie ornament I made using Washi paper with gold pen highlights. It is fun chatting with people about them and sharing ideas.  Thanks to Lanise who has made several really beautiful cubes.

Doc Von Block by Scott Tolleson

"Ill" Doc... Poor guy. I hope he hasn't been drinking the ethanol. "Natural" Doc looking all tenured-like. You, dear "X-ray" Doc, are my new best friend. Talk about an awesome piece of art, this is great from concept to completion "Doc Von Block" is a step outside of the box, hes not vinyl, or resin, or even metal, but a big hunk o' wood!

    Rephotographs and Counterlife

    http://jeeleong.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ rephotographs-and-counterlife.html

The New Yorker, October 15, 2007Yes, yes, it's a really old number. Reading Peter Schjeldahl's review of Richard Prince at the Guggenheim reminds me of my own reaction to the retrospective of this American appropriations artist.

    Scranton Needs Us

    http://www.thisyounghouse.com/ 2008/ 11/ scranton-needs-us/

If you saw The Office on Thursday then you too probably wanted to jump through the screen and help Jim fix up the house he bought for Pam as a surprise. I mean, c’mon, Sherry and I couldn’t have been the only ones itching to get our hands on it (that’s what she said).

    Jean and Andrew’s Design Dilemma

    http://www.thisyounghouse.com/ 2008/ 11/ jean-and-andrews-design-dilemma/

When this cute couple wrote to us for help with their front room and entryway, we were excited to create something light and welcoming for a house that says “why hello there” every time they enter. Here’s their letter: We’re looking for beachy, light and airy entryway and front room with clean lines, kid-friendly style and a fair dose of whimsy.

Astro, Boy, Bakersfield Workshop and Sparrow

    http://williamwray.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ boy-and-bakersfield-workshop.html

Another for the Bake show. The Astro Motel in Fresno. Run down, but still going unlike a lot of the highway hotels that have gone under there. This faux future theme was popular back in the day when Aerospace was king in California. Sadly Fresno and aerospace have seen better days.

    Bonus Bone: Tod candleholder

    http://designboner.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ bonus-bone-tod-candleholder_21.html

Short and tall Tod candleholders, at Jean PelleEven though the Slowey has deemed metallics to be so over, I still love them. Don't get me wrong I'm not about to wear them head to toe or get my sofa reupholstered in gold lamé, but I love just a little hint of sparkle. This is why I love the Tod candleholders designed by Jean Pelle.
