There isn’t really a write this week?  Dan has beaten to me to a harvest blog and Kristen has done the top ten food pairings.  So what do I have?  I do have something.  I have a trip to a friend’s wedding in Italy a week from Saturday.  Being the good friend that I am, I’m taking time off and heading to Europe for short while.  Yes, I know, there is no sympathy for me.

A moderate table wine from the wine makers Roaix Seguret,Vaucluse. This wine is a blend of Grenache (75%), Syrah (15%) and Mourvedre (10%) grapes.It is easy on the palate with notes of mellow spice, chocolate, plum and cheery. There’s slight tannin hit in the finish Good value at at around 4.50€ a bottle.

Bordeaux is one of the largest wine producing regions in the world and the home of some of the most famous wines in the world including the “Grand Cru” wines. But that’s not the whole story. Many Bordeaux wines are inexpensive, easy to drink, accessible, generally lower in alcohol than typical California wines, and pair well with food.

For an inspiring taste of the Alps this autumn or winter, book the Solis Cambrian Hotel located right on the main street in charming Abelboden, Switzerland. As viewed from the central lobby with its open fireplace, the surrounding setting is absolutely magnificent.

I suppose there is probably no possibility that the term "Port" will be removed from the list of placenames that the U.S. and he European Union have agreed will not be used on products originating from the States. What a shame too, because this term, Port, really shouldn't not be on such a list alongside the likes of "Burgundy", "Champagne", or Bordeaux.

I have an intimate relationship with alcoholic beverages. This is why I just completely DETEST when people try to use alcohol as an excuse as far as why they did something. It’s a copout.
