In a development that is perhaps not too surprising Joost and Babelgum are struggling with content acquisition. Their responses are quite different though. Babelgum has created a €10m commissioning fund for original content and made it’s first investment, whilst Joost is retrenching from it’s global ambitions to focus on the US.

Looking around a bit in the joost.com interface. It really improved a lot. For many this is still something they cannot imagine having but yet it is easy to get. Free also... For me being in Malaysia, it's a way to watch overseas program to normally don't get beamed into Malaysia.

"How much more fun the internet has become ..." and the above is being suggest by www.joost.com (the widget interface) while I am watching cranky geeks. They do understand viral/internet market there at joost... Looks really cool actually. A pitty it is not integrated with skype.

Check out http://www.ecwebsite.com/test.htm A pitty that Skype was bought by eBay and abandoned by Niklas Zennstrom otherwise we could see this kind of integration that could have happened on www.joost.com. In other words : how 2 good solutions can get screwed by a bad strategic financial partnership.

I just found out that Joost "announced a very cool new feature to the service - instant messaging, via Meebo Integration for now is via Joost widgets. Over time the feature will likely transitioned into a more direct integration." source. I would call this "how to kick yourself in the face(book)...".
