Jim Thome singled in A.J. Pierzynski for the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 to salvage a sweep in the series.  Thome delivered a single off of Angels closer Francisco Rodriquez.  Maybe this will get Thome out his slump that he has been in lately.

There are a couple developments on the horizon that could make the second half of 2008 almost as good as the first. On the down side, there are also a few big-name ex-boxers nearing 50 years old who may well soon fight each other.

It was a productive three game series for the Texas Rangers even though they lost to the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in 12 innings on Wednesday afternoon.  The Rangers took two out of three games from the Rangers and are now two games away from hitting the .500 mark.

After the Gabbard-Sexton slap-and-tickle match last week, Monday’s game in Arlington had a special buzz to it. Vincinte Padilla, who spends the off-season thowing pitches at small children and old women to stay sharp, going against the Mariners in the first get-even opportunity.

The Texas Rangers have the Seattle Mariners number right now as they have beat the Mariners the first two times in their three game series.  On Tuesday night, the Mariners commited four errors and the Rangers took advantage of them as they beat the Mariners 5-2.

With Rafael Furcal landing on the 15-Day DL with a lower back strain owners need not to worry just yet. With Furcal batting .366, 5HR, 16RBI, and 8SB...owners should feel a huge pinch in their stats. This SS for the Dodgers was putting up prime time numbers and no player from the waiver wire will ever come close to replacing Furcal's production.

Always looking for new ways to lose ball games, last night the Mariners nixed thirteen walks allowed with a 12-run outburst to lose an extra-inning 13-12 game at the Ballpark in Arlington.  Kenji Johjima, who had been struggling all year, hit his first home run- a three-run shot that tied the game

Wow. That’s really about all my brain can register regarding last night’s series opener against the Mariners. Just… wow. They fell behind. They came back. They coughed up the lead. Took it back. Gave it up again. And then… Ramon Vazquez. And a 13-12 win. There where no delusions about what this game was going to be from the very start.
