Phenoxyethanol, glycol ether often derived from natural sources, is a popular antibacterial and preservative chemical. It also contains in many vaccines and bug repellants. Even some of the greenest beauty brands use phenoxyethanol as a preservative, noting that it is derived from grapefruit.
