    Farm Bill: Skewed Perspectives?

    http://www.money-hacks.com/ 2008/ 05/ farm-bill-skewed-perspectives.html

You gotta wonder what the folks in Congress are up to, besides up to their eyeballs in special interest money! I'm a regular reader of Greg Mankiw's Blog. Greg used to be the top Bush econ dog, but he quit a few years ago and went back to teach at Harvard.

    Update - 5/15/08

    http://www.sfsolarsubsidy.com/ sfsolarsubsidy/ update-51508/

Well, Mirkarimi told a fib about taking the best version they had and removing the reserve on the funds, and letting the subsidy pilot program run this week. So the news isn’t good, but it’s not awful either.

Write your emails, call your supervisors, but for God’s sake, do it today!

This happens tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day this subsidy program either vaults SF into a Country-wide leader in solar, or pile drives us, leaving us unconscious and dazed. Here is a letter I just wrote Supervisor Mirkarimi, who will, tomorrow, attempt to inject a cancerous piece of legistlation.

Here are two families that are going to go solar if the subsidy passes: Hello Supervisor Mirkarimi, My family owns a 3 unit building in the Mission. We do everything possible to be responsible landlords and San Franciscan residents.

The BEA release can be seen here. I had some fun with math at a 5AM this morning reading the most recent BEAs report on our trade deficit last quarter. One particular exhibit, number 17 I spent some quality time with. Here is the link to the full report above.

Too many reports, not enough action on the ETS

    http://blog.greens.org.nz/ index.php/ 2008/ 05/ 02/ too-many-reports-not-enough-…

While the select committee struggles through the deluge of submissions on the ETS, the rest of us who are interested are forced to wade through the plethora of reports released this week in honour of our first serious attempt to tackle CO2 emissions. The report card? Not so good.
