    Let’s hope Hurricane Gustav just slips past New Orleans without doing any damage. Here’s The Times-Picayune in Virtual Earth/Live Search Maps. (As with all Advance Internet properties, I’m not sure where to link when writing the newspaper’s name. They appear to have a corporate policy of causing as much brand confusion as possible.

    Apparently, the head of the British Cartographic Society is no fan of Google Maps. She's complaining that Google Maps doesn't include the additional geographic information that makes maps so great, claiming: "We're in real danger of losing what makes maps so unique, giving us a feel for a place even if we've never been there." Except, that's not quite true.

    We’ve just rolled out the latest update to the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center (GNOCDC) Repopulation Google Maps application.  Thanks to Matt Priour figuring out how to add the Street View imagery to our New Orleans Repopulation Map, you can now not only see where people are coming back to The Crescent City, but the rebuilding efforts from the street level.
