    Technomadic Traveller

    http://www.bytesurgery.com/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ 18/ technomadic-traveller/

SINGAPORE - A final post from S.E. Asia. I’m packed & ready to hit the airport for a BA flight to London. I like Paul Carr’s phrase ‘Technomadic’ for a person travelling and working with their life all with them. I included the photo above as it shows with exception of my mountaineering equipment in my parents house, my entire worldly belongings.

    Invade Burma?

    http://michaelsieburg.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ invade-burma/

There seems to be a tendency to respond to each global crisis with calls for military action. Afghanistan. Iraq. Burma. Zimbabwe. Darfur. Haiti. Venzeula. Iran. Syria. On and on. Invading a country is a very complicated question and I think some individuals throw around the idea too lightly for a myriad of reasons I won’t bother with here.

    Thanh Nien/Tuoi Tre update

    http://michaelsieburg.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ thanh-nientuoi-tre-update/

Thanh Nien has posted excerpts of interviews with several individuals, across different sectors including the National Assembly, about the recent arrests of the Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre journalists. What is striking is how outspoken some of the respondents are.

    Bloody tourists, yeah!

    http://angrychimp.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ bloody-tourists-yeah.html

Yes, but which one will make me look like a twat? Spent the evening in the basement of a Thai Restaurant just off Trafalgar Square in the company of ‘Travel Indochina’, a tour operator who, for exorbitant fees, take lazy (mostly aging) bastards who can’t be arsed to organize their own trips round

Two of the Pandaw fleet are now navigating the Delta taking supplies to those in need, as well as acting as floating hospitals.

    Vietnam media scandal

    http://michaelsieburg.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ media-in-vietnam-in-an-uproar…

There is a fascinating case unfolding in Vietnam right now. Two journalists from Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre have been arrested for their reporting on a corruption case in 2005 and 2006. Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre are considered to be two of the more progressive newspapers in Vietnam, pushing the bounds

Burma: “They’re faking it everywhere” Posted on May 15, 2008 by dreamburo They’re faking it everywhere. They fake it by video taping, and then leaving that area. They’re just looking for an opportunity to video tape when authorities come. People are suffering from the storm.
