    http://www.linuxquestions.org/ questions/ showthread.php?t=641623

I bought a KeyTec MagicTouch USB-XD touch screen. I tried to install it on my Slackware 12.1 machine. The device is recognized by Slackware as /dev/usb/hiddev0. First I used the driver provided by KEYTEC, following their instructions for manual installation.

    http://www.linuxquestions.org/ questions/ showthread.php?t=641455

I can't seem to find a clear answer on this. At work I run 2 linux servers without GUI. I am in the process of upgrading to slackware 12.1. From what I understand, the HAL and dbus services (which are enabled by default) are primarily intended for desktop systems.

A friend of a friend recently tried to install BackTrack 3 from a LiveCD. It's based on Slackware Linux, apparently. He ran into some issues I helped him solve, and I thought I would reproduce the problem and solution here in hopes that it might help someone else.
