Thirteen things about the Jewish Literature Challenge With Passover ending on Saturday, it's time for the Jewish Literature Challenge to end. That means I need to bring you guys up to date on what I've read and all that. 1. I read a ton, but the Jewish Lit began with Lisa Pearl Rosenbaum's A Day of Small Beginnings.

I’m liking this Bookstack idea. Here’s March 08. First, I realized how wrong I was about Joann Sfar’s Vampire Loves. Its weird meandering nature, it’s mixing of characters all searching for something is really really charming… The Rabbi’s Cat I was already sold on, and reread it last month.

I've got all these things I've been wanting to share with everyone, so I'm sending the bands into their practice spaces, I'm parking the journalists in front of their computers, and telling the chef, the artist, the groupie, and the roadie to go about their business for the week. Our mummy monster myth seems to be relatively recent. As Paula Guran's essay on DarkEcho traces, the tradition in English literature seems to go back to Arthur Conan Doyle's stories "The Ring of Thoth" (1890) and "Lot No. 249" (1892), and Bram Stoker's novel The Jewel of Seven Stars (1906).

This charming, madcap Victorian romp was originally published in 1997 and has just recently been translated into English and reissued by First Second. The French pairing, Joann Sfar and Emmanuel Guibert, have infused their girl-meets-mummy love story with equal amounts whimsy and longing.
