Inspired by the incredible time I had at An Event Apart San Francisco, I’ve decided to learn a little bit of CSS to actually theme this blog. What should I do first? The last couple of years I’ve had no real personalized experience on this blog at foolswisdom.com.

Simplish made an appearance on op111.net’s 5-theme shortlist for WordPress. I almost missed the trackback because I was moving the demo blog to make way for this space. In the end, op111’s demetris chose to apply his own styling to Scott Wallick’s excellent Sandbox theme.

Image via WikipediaI worked very hard this week trying to get a good theme out by this weekend. Fortunately, I made my personal deadline two days early! This is a rehash of one of my favorite Wordpress themes: the Sandbox. If you want to change your theme and don’t want to spend weeks and weeks working on your own, I highly recommend the Sandbox.

Cordobo “Freiraum” (Paperwall 2) This is Freiraum - Paperwall 2, a new wordpress theme (based on sandbox) in demo mode. You can download this theme right after the click. Keep in mind, it’s a preview, not even an alpha!

My first WordPress theme ‘DIRTY GIRL …it’s not what you think’. I named it from the image you see in the banner of the demo site. DIRTY GIRL is a 990px wide/centered/two-column theme based on the famous Sandbox Theme and the Blueprint CSS Grid Framework. I have become a great believer in grid design.

A clean, minimalistic, widget ready Wordpress theme, ideal for corporate blogs. It’s also a great starting point for developing future Wordpress themes. Designers can use this theme as a canvas for their creative ideas.

In my ever benevolent state I’ve compiled a list of Wordpress plugins that should assist you as you create and install Wordpress for yourself and others. I’ve used many of these and they are very valuable.

Admin Menu Drop Down Hate clicking around to get to an option page buried deep in the Wordpress Admin soil? Me too. This is typically the very first plugin I install. When developing with Wordpress you spend a lot of time jumping back and forth in the WP admin menu and this plugin saves you a lot of clicks.
