Riding associations backing Liberal Party loans

    http://stevejanke.com/ archives/ 269701.php

In my previous post, I looked at Liberal Party fundraising for the second quarter.  Not surprisingly, fundraising for the Liberals is flat. But in looking over the numbers, I noticed something unexpected.  Several riding associations emptied out their banks accounts to move money to the Liberal Party.

Wednesday Window: an oyster with an eye?

    http://blogginginparis.com/ 2008/ 06/ 25/ wednesday-window-an-oyster-with-an-eye…

If oysters make you feel squeamish, please look away! Doesn’t it feel like it’s looking at you? This is one of the oysters I had when at Mont-Saint-Michel at the beginning of June. I stayed overnight and had a dinner of oysters with a waffle for my dessert.

Unusual Sales at Brooks Brothers, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom; Shorts at J Crew, The Usual Sales at Vera Bradley, etc.

    http://thepreppyprincess.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 06/ 06/ unusual-sales-at-brooks-br…

You are aware The Princess is loathe to discuss the “M” word (as you know, it’s just so crass and, well, common), but it seems that economic realities are forcing the issue, at least if we are to let you know about some unusual sales and higher-than-normal markdowns at a few of our favorite retailers.

    Urban Cab Rickshaw Service

    http://www.jgadgets.com/ 2008/ 05/ 05/ urban-cab-rickshaw-service

As the price of fuel goes up higher than ever before, why not rely on pedal power the next time you’re in a metropolis? Paris is offering a tiny fleet of hybrid pedal rickshaws which are similar to those in Rome and Valencia. The rickshaw service is known as , and is more advanced as it features a battery and an electric motor that assists on steep inclines.

    Aristote au Mont-Saint-Michel

    http://boredmelo.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 04/ 29/ aristote-au-mont-saint-michel/

Aristote au Mont-Saint-Michel April 29, 2008 • 3 Comments John Vinocur has a piece in IHT about Sylvain Gouguenheim’s new book, Aristote au Mont-Saint-Michel.  Gouguenheim felt compelled to challenge the standard version after the EU in 2002 issued a “recommendation” that schoolbooks give a more positive portrayal of Islam’s contribution to Europe’s heritage.

    Chateau Boutillot 2006 Bordeaux

    http://wine.the-world-in-focus.com/ ?p=59

This Bordeaux wine from Chateau Boutillot in Saint-Michel de Lapujade, Gironde is a bit on the young side for my taste. It is on the tart side, with bitter tannins in the after taste, with not much of a nose on it. A Bordeaux wine for around 3.50€, means it is no great surprise that it is not very drinkable.
