Moody's is thinking about downgrading Pilgrim's Pride (PPC). Pilgrim's Pride is a billion dollar market cap company with a $1.5 billion long term debt, no income, and high costs.

The chicken business is so bad that Joe Sanderson, CEO of Sanderson Farms (SAFM), called on divine guidance during his company's recent conference call. Well that’s going to take a miracle and an angel or something looks to me.

I've been reporting on these food producers since fund inception to give readers an idea of the coming inflation and adverse effects of the boondoggle that is ethanol. What I do find strange is how bad news from this group is coming as a "surprise" anymore - it has been increasingly bad all year and anyone who is paying attention could of saw this coming a long time ago.

Sanderson Farms (SAFM) is out with its quarterly results, and the company came in with a loss of 18 cents, which is below the breakeven that analysts at Thomson Reuters had been looking for. The company did see an 18% jump in revenue to $466.9 million. (more…)

I have no idea what the market will be doing today, this week, this month, or this year. I have been saying the real economy is in serious trouble, and that was stated under an impression oil would be at $90-$110 or so. What we have now is ever more frightful.
