I do a lot of solo backpacking because it can be difficult to find a good hiking partners and because dealing with their shuttle logistics can be extremely frustrating. However, even though I hike alone, I often camp with other backpackers who I’ve run across during the day or meet up with at a shelter.

Everyone has been in a similar situation: you have left house wondering if you have unplugged the iron or turned off the electrical fire, and as a result you panic for the remainder of the time spent away from the home, often returning to find you hadn’t and had thus panicked unnecessarily.
