Food safety practices should actually apply all year round, but in summer and any time of warm weather, regular precautions might not be enough. For example, you might be able to leave food unrefrigerated for several hours in February without seeing any major effects, but the same practice may not work for you in August when the environment is warmer and bacteria multiply faster.

After the spinach scare (remember that fiasco) parents really started to be more concerned about what was going into their children’s mouths. However, there’s no need to panic over food safety. Food safety is important, especially where little ones are concerned.
