Earlier Rant or Ramble (and back)
http://political_progress_for_people.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ earlier-rant-or-ram…Better to flip-flop than to completely flip or flop. Judge and re-judge thyself, lest thee be Re-judged and De-judged. - (The links were added as after thoughts, or post script. I now find a core theme for these seemingly out of the blue thoughts.

Sorting an Array of hashes
http://infostall.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ sorting-an-array-of-hashes/We get a situation where we fetch some set of records from db as an array of hashes, and later we need to sort this array based on some field of DB. Here is a very hand code to do so. array_objs =[ {:title => "row1_title" ,:name => "Mumbai"}, {:title => "row2_title" ,:name => "Delhi"},

Start with git SCM
http://laurentbois.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ start-with-git-scm/If you already used SVN or SVK , give a try to Git, another source code management (scm) system. I saw for weeks that many Rails/Ruby related projects, including Ruby on Rails framework itself, are hosted on Github, a git repository hosting. You can begin with a free Github account (you have a repository with 100mo quota).

Make money with ADS
http://rorblog.techcfl.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ make-money-with-ads-referral-program/ADS is happy to announce the ADS Referral Program. Starting today developers, designers, and others can make between $200 and $500 by referring a customer our way. Rails, Git, and Empty Directories
http://rorblog.techcfl.com/ 2008/ 05/ 11/ rails-git-and-empty-directories/I was getting a little fed up touching every single directory that was empty after I created a new Rails app and than pushing it to a git repo and having it not include the empty directories. So, I created a short quick script to help me out. I didn’t test it more than a couple times, but it seems to do the job.

Ruby on Rails and mysql connection problems
http://www.ecogito.net/ anil/ 2008/ 05/ ruby-on-rails-and-mysql-connection.htmlIf you are losing connection to mysql every so often on OSX (I'm using 10.5 Leopard), it's probably because you do not have the native C ruby-mysql bindings. If your error looks like this: Mysql::Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query: then try the following. Verify that the bindings are really not present.

"A flip-flop should be no handicap."
http://political_progress_for_people.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ flip-flop-should-be…Richard Dawkins points to his own flip-flop on Amotz Zahavi's Handicap Principle [*] and how it fits in with his own theory in The Selfish Gene. The point is not that anyone has a handicap, but that those that do, must be actually more successful to survive or are selected by a mate (or voter) for that reason.

Ditto Heads Unite!
http://political_progress_for_people.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ ditto-heads-unite.h…Thanks to Rush Limbaugh ( and FOX )we have a new 50 state strategy. And it wouldn't be anywhere without Hillary. The double-edged conspiracy actually works. Rush is not only covering for the "rats leaving the sinking ship" but in trying to get Hillary as the nominee, as the lighter of the two democratic candidates, gives us a more weighty candidate.
