Further to my recent post titled 'Time stood still...' I have been thinking about the lifeline they call the umbilical cord. Initiated by the fact that the shoulder dystocia that I experienced was combined with a nuchal cord and the recent 60 minutes documentary on birth choices that had women making

    Artificial Respiration for Dogs

    http://www.cocothebloggingdog.com/ 2008/ 07/ artificial-respiration-for-dogs.htm…

Artificial respiration may be necessary, if your dog ever becomes unconscious. It may be done in combination with chest compressions, which is known as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. If respiratory arrest occurs (your dog stops breathing), artificial respiration must be given immediately to save your dogs life.

    Resuscitation with Negative Pressure

    http://portalung.com/ blog/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ resuscitation-with-negative-pressure/

I read an article on the invention of the Iron Lung and it is very interesting to note that this respirator was the leading device for resuscitation in the late 20th century. In an experimentation, Philip Drinker placed an anaesthetized cat in a sealed iron box with a neck collar, allowing the body to be within a fully-pressurized environment.

Do you know CPR? Have you ever had to actually use CPR?

    http://empowher.com/ ask/ cpr/ do-you-know-cpr-have-you-ever-had-actually-use-cp…

I just read a survivor's story on the American Heart Association (AHA) site, where a woman said that a stranger saved her life with his performing CPR on her until the EMT came (and they had to use the AED, automated external defibrillator, twice, for her heart to start beating).
