Diverted for now by Operation Chaos and the Democratic primary, Rush looks ahead to a McCain presidency and says he "will thrive."

    McCain’s SC visit

GOP CANDIDATE DODGES SANFORD VP QUESTIONS, SAYS HE WILL RETURN TO SC BEFORE ELECTION, DEMINT & GUV NO-SHOWS It will probably be a while before we see Republican presidential nominee John McCain in the Palmetto State again, but on Friday he was in Columbia for a fundraiser that reportedly raised nearly $1.5 million for his campaign.

    On the "Unity Ticket"

Armando requests a more detailed argument about why it would not be irrational for Obama to choose someone other than Clinton for his running mate. (And let me be clear: I am not saying that there aren't reasonable arguments in favor of Clinton, just that the merits of the idea are hardly self-evident.

A Peek Inside the Obama Campaign

    http://liberaljournal.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ peek-inside-obama-campaign.html

Again, a good article for political junkies from Richard Wolffe and Evan Thomas: How do you know if Barack Obama is unhappy with what you're saying—or not saying? At meetings of his closest advisers, he likes to lean back, put his feet on the table and close his eyes.

Obama pushes forward while others continue to fight the battles of yesteryear

Party Like It’s 2008 [SLNYTOE] Almost every wrong prediction about this election cycle has come from those trying to force the round peg of this year’s campaign into the square holes of past political wars. That’s why race keeps being portrayed as dooming Mr.

    Obama's Mama

A thoughtful piece from Ellen Goodman of the Boston Globe addresses more of the woman who made Barack who he is and how her story may help him reach out to core Hillary supporters as he begins to heal the party. Thanks to Angela for sending this in.

    The Transition

    http://lefarkins.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ transition.html

MoDo seems regretful that she will have less reason (at least outside the context of blind dates) to snigger about Bill Clinton's sex life. But she holds out faint hope for a Vice Presidential nod: Aside from the delight Bill would get from living at the Naval Observatory and having a huge telescope to window-peep with, there wouldn’t be much joy in Hillaryland.

Dedicated to Our First African-American Presidential Nominee

    http://www.democracyfornewmexico.com/ democracy_for_new_mexico/ 2008/ 05/ embedd…

I just discovered that Wolfgang's Concert Vault now has embed code for much of its material. Nice. I thought this was the perfect time to put up a musical salute to our first Black presidential nominee -- Barack Obama -- on a weekend when he has surpassed Clinton in the superdelegate count and leads her by virtually unassailable margins in pledged delegates, states won and popular vote.

Why There Shouldn’t Be A “Dream Ticket” (and Probably Won’t Be)

    http://liberaljournal.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ why-there-shouldnt-be-dream-ticket…

I seriously considered the possibility of an Obama-Clinton ticket after Indiana and North Carolina, despite my concerns over Hillary. It seemed, for a moment, like it may be politically necessary. But I have concluded that it would be a bad move.

What "Helping Clinton Retire Her Debt" Means

    http://www.dailykos.com/ storyonly/ 2008/ 5/ 10/ 154245/ 021

A month ago I raised the issue of Hillary Clinton's campaign debt as a complicating factor is ending her futile quest for the Democratic nomination. Time had published speculation from a Clinton aide that mounting campaign debt could create problems for Clinton, because she would have to get additional donations before she could start raising for her next Senate campaign.

Should the Democratic Primary Race drag on?

    http://www.politicalgastronomica.com/ archives/ 2008/ 05/ should_the_demo.html

I was sitting in the Qantas/American Airlines Lounge in Honolulu listening to the continual drone of CNN and the discussion of the diminishing lead in superdelegates she has (as of this post, she is down to a +2 lead).
