Book Review: “The New Christians” by Tony Jones

I won a free copy of Tony Jones’ fancy new book, “The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier” a few weeks ago from Adam, and since Jones’ publicist sent the free copy all the way to Scotland, I figured it deserves a nice long post.

Challenging the Critiques of Emergent: A White Man’s World

Upfront Disclaimer: I do not speak for anyone on the board at Emergent Village, nor am I assuming the position of spokesperson. I speak from a position of proximity and friendship with emergent. And if you want to put a label on it (something I will hopefully make a point about), then by God, you can consider me emergent.

    Hello 2008!

    http://ogrepraxy.com/ ?p=3

Hello 2008! by jweaver It’s a new year, and I decided that I would finally start my own blog in 2008.  So, with help from Adam Walker Cleaveland & Chris Pearson I am writing the first post of ogrepraxy.  I hope that this will become a welcoming place for generative conversation about living better as Christ followers.

Belated Gift Ideas by jweaver This is a great calendar — a guaranteed smile anytime you need it!  (HT: Judy Naegeli)  Another calendar that I really like, and need to get for ‘08 is the Christian Seasons Calendar, which divides the standard calendar into the seasons of the Christian calendar.

Sacredness and Silence during the Holidays

    http://compassioninpolitics.wordpress.com/ 2007/ 12/ 20/ sacredness-and-silence-…

I ran across Sacred Space today (h/t to Pomomusings):   Something to think and pray about this week:If Jesus were to appear in our world, he would be born unnoticed, to a good, struggling family in Ecuador, Uzbekistan or some place usually out of the news.

Five for Friday | The Week's Best Blogs (12/14/07 Edition) Every week I spend hours reading and commenting on new media and design blogs. I run across so much good information that it's impossible to write one post for each great article I discover. So I've decided it's time to start making a weekly list of my favorite blog posts.

Tweet Better: 9 Unconventional (and Slightly Badass) Ways to use Twitter

    http://www.jakebouma.com/ 2007/ 12/ 04/ tweet-better-9-unconventional-and-slight…

I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon pretty early on, but only recently have I begun to use the service regularly. As it turns out, Twitter can be used for more than simply tracking friends' status updates and pursuing other various forms of cyber-stalking.
