Chris Sampson Throw 7 Innings Of 3 Hit Ball To Shut Out Dodgers

http://mvn.com/ mlb-astros/ 2008/ 05/ 11/ chris-sampson-throw-7-innings-of-3-hit…
The Chris Sampson (NOT Chad Simpson, as I heard some guy say on ESPN radio) of early 2007 showed up tonight. He struck out 3, walked one, gave up 2 fairly long fly balls, and wouldn't have had a man advance beyond second (Kemp's double) but Tejada misplayed an easy popup and let it drop, then Carlos Lee booted it. ...

    Bald Penguins Meet Bald Persons

    http://www.baldiness.com/ bald-penguins-meet-bald-persons/

Image details: View of two penguins standing on a rock surface served by picapp.com Earlier this week, I was interviewed for an article about baldness. My interview specifically dealt with baldness in the workplace. I think you all know how I feel about baldness. I think its fabulous! But not everyone feels the same way.

    Haiku Sonnet: Third Floor*

    http://joefelso.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 04/ haiku-sonnet-third-floor/

The surging train sound, sturdy heels on the sidewalk. After distant hours, the world turns its head, or its ears. Someone has moved the taciturn dawn to become Sunday. The air stirs budding branches. A square of sunlight falls between buildings. A window opens nearby. Below, two people laugh.

Dodgers Win Eighth Straight Behind Loney’s Six RBI

Another great game tonight, but first my best wishes go out to Tommy Lasorda. Apparently Lasorda cut short his trip to the Dominican Republic because of a minor ailment and spent two days in the hospital. They say he is home and okay. We hope you’re feeling better, Tommy.

Juan Pierre Not Happy Being A Bench Player

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ 2008/ 05/ juan-pierre-not.html

Juan Pierre, who has been the odd man out in the crowded Dodgers outfield this year, said following the team's 5-3 victory over the Florida Marlins on Thursday that he still has not accepted his current role with the club as a bench player: "I don't see myself as a bench player. I haven't accepted that.

Dodgers Stay Hot in Freezing Cold Weather

    http://mvn.com/ mlb-dodgers/ 2008/ 05/ 03/ dodgers-stay-hot-in-freezing-cold-wea…

Before I get to last night’s game I’d like to recognize former Dodgers General Manager Buzzie Bavasi. Bavasi passed away Thursday night at the age of 93. Under Bavasi the Dodgers won nine pennants and four World Series, and he was responsible for putting some of our franchise’s greatest players in Dodger blue.

My how things have changed since Pierre spoke to Rob Hof of Business Week; back in 2001. (Special thanks to user: allaboutsewing on the Seller Central board for pointing out this article.) I'll post the Q&A from the article in 2001 and then the video clip from the John Donahoe interview following.

Kemp's 9th Inning Single Helps Dodgers Edge Marlins 5-3

    http://thegameofbaseball.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ kemps-9th-inning-single-helps-d…

Assuming the Los Dodgers keep up their torrid pace, they may supplant Arizona atop the National League West standings in a very short span of time; the team's "hero du jour" (hero of the day in French) in their game Thursday against the Florida Marlins was Matt Kemp as he had a tie-breaking base hit in the 9th inning, leading Los Angeles past Florida 5-3 at Dolphin Stadium.

    Focus in London

    http://darbygray.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ focus-in-london.html

Focus were in town last night and I was able to see them. I enjoyed it on the whole. A nice mixture of old and new, they played for two hours and there was rarely a dull moment. The long tracks Eruption and Harem Scarem were a little uninventive and dull and Hocus Pocus slightly tame but otherwise it was good stuff.

The Essence Of Gettin’ Boarded . . .

    http://www.bouncemag.com/ 2008/ 04/ 30/ the-essence-of-gettin-boarded/

There are blocked shots, and then there is the essence of gettin’ boarded, or what we called, “getting pinned” to the backboard back in the day. It immediately reminds me of seeing Richie Adams or Walter Berry, guys in the ’80s who took that park aesthetic and made it a melody during the NCAA days.
