From Friday’s show: The multi-state tobacco settlement was unconstitutional, and after years of hearing some Ohio Republicans bragging about their role in the tobacco settlement, I’m glad to see the settlement exposed for what it really is: The stealing of profits from a legitimate industry.

A Washington-based anti-smoking group wants Gov. Ted Strickland and legislative leaders to slap a 75-cent surcharge on packs of cigarettes in order to save an Ohio foundation that discourages youth from smoking and runs a smoking quit line.

Legislators in Columbus proved they CAN act quickly when they want to. Yesterday they voted to move tobacco funds out of the foundation which administers them so that the foundation couldn't transfer the money to non-profits out of the reach of state government.
