Review: Defender of the Crown (GBA)

http://curmudgeongamer.com/ 2008/ 05/ review-defender-of-crown-gba.html
For $3, I couldn't pass up a used copy of Defender of the Crown for the GBA. The classic game I'd loved as a youngster, now in handheld form? Brilliant. I'm happy to say that the nostalgia comes through nearly unspoiled. The graphics remind me of the Amiga version whose screenshots I'd envied back when I played the Commodore 64 version until the disk drive wore slam out. ...

Shenmue I & II finally on the way to Wii?

    http://www.wiiwii.tv/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ shenmue-i-ii-finally-on-the-way-to-wii/

Don’t get too excited, it’s just a rumour. And a rumour that’s been doing the rounds - albeit in slightly different forms each time - for a fair while. But Swedish mag Games Reactor has published a short piece in its rumour section that somehow seems just that bit more plausible than previous “Shenmue is returning!” proclamations.

    Design Your Own Chuck Taylors

Who doesn’t love a pair of Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star sneakers. They can make you feel like a retro rebel, a punk rock two-chord star or a kid at heart. I’ve got two pair of the kicks in my closet right now. Newscoma stimulated the economy a few weeks ago when she acquired a new pair.

    ghosts of a dead future

    http://armagideontime.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ ghosts-of-dead-future.html

I remember when the future was orange, set to the tune of blip tones and the whirring of tape reels in sterile, climate-controlled rooms. It was a time when utopian fantasies took a back seat to dystopian nightmares engendered by the collective anxieties of a society trying to find its footing after a period of immense political and cultural upheaval.

I had the FUNNEST lunchtime today, y’all.  I returned to my former place of employment and got to enjoy some quality, :cough: Christian fellowship with my Shishter….my old boss and another former co-worker.  This would be my old boss…Mike.  Mike is a first class, card-carrying retard.  I ain’t

Ladyhawke - Back of the Van

    http://graveyardshiftshane.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ ladyhawke-back-of-the-va…

Being a child of the 80’s, it’s probably partly reasons of nostalgia that make me love this tune by New Zealand singer, Ladyhawke, not to be confused with Vancouver rock band, Ladyhawk. ’Back of the Van’ is the kind of song you can imagine having a video featuring clips of a Brat Pack movie.

    Captain EO

    http://www.irenekaoru.com/ blog1/ ?p=657

Did you get a chance to see the multimillion dollar 1986 3D short film Captain EO, starring Michael Jackson and Anjelica Huston, during its run at Epcot Center? I remember seeing it as a child. I remember loving it so much I made my parents take me to see it a second time…immediately.

REVIEW: Gust Spenos Quartet - Swing Theory

    http://geezermusicclub.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ review-gust-spenos-quartet-s…

It’s pretty obvious that saxophonist Gust Spenos developed the idea for his group’s debut album, Swing Theory, with his tongue firmly lodged in his cheek. He’s proposing a quasi-scientific explanation of swing music, and as part of the fun has likened it to the string theory in physics.

    R.I.P. Off

    http://www.doomkopf.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ rip-off/

I’ve never really been a fan of Grant Morrison. Despite his status as an A-list creator, I can’t think of a single project of his outside of New X-Men that I’ve really enjoyed. Morrison’s Batman is particularly bad. Well, at least his first arc was, because that’s as long as I could stand to read it.

    Sense of place

    http://strangedarkgypsygirl.com/ ?p=590

This week I’ve been spending some time thinking about where I belong, where I feel happy, where I feel comfortable. I’m considering whether I can be happy here in my hometown, whether living here is a challenge I can really face, or whether I’m better elsewhere.
