Who would you risk pneumonia to see in concert?

http://popwatch.ew.com/ popwatch/ 2008/ 05/ radiohead-rain.html
I found out my answer to that question the hard way last night, when I braved some seriously nasty weather to see Radiohead at Bristow, Virginia's Nissan Pavilion. (What, you thought I was kidding?) Torrential rains flooded the roads to the venue, so just getting there felt like an episode of Man Vs. ...

Local H’s Twelve Angry Months in stores and online today

    http://houstoncalling.net/ ?p=1336

Finally! The new album by Chicago’s Local H hits stores today (Tuesday, 5.13.08). Twelve Angry Months is a concept album (of sorts) that chronicles the disintegration of a relationship (one song for each month of the year). We’ve all been there, and Local H front man Scott Lucas does a great job of whipping his feelings into a solid set of songs.

    Johnny Winter in his Prime

    http://heavyriff.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ johnny-winter-in-his-prime/

Here is another video from youtube that I think really showcases Johnny Winter in his earlier days. This was some sort of impromptu tv appearance that he did and he performed a great version of “Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo”. The notes just seem to flow from his fingers as it’s just he and the bass player performing.

    http://offdaglass.net/ wordpress/ ?p=301

Teyana Taylor - Swagger - http://www.zshare.net/audio/117407452223c596/ This song is gonna be on her upcoming release From A Planet Called Harlem. We haven’t seen her perform it but word on the street is she does her thing when performing this even though it is not the second single from her album, which drops May 20th, we expect big things from her.

Go to video details at Youtube > Go to my review of their show at Proud Larry’s last year > Go to The Lee Boys’ Myspace > I caught the last hour of J. Roddy Walston & the Business at Parrish’s last night. Those guys put on one hell of a show. I highly recommend seeing them when you have a chance.

CD Review: Metropolitan Klezmer – Traveling Show

    http://lucidculture.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ cd-review-metropolitan-klezmer-…

It’s a mystery why more bands don’t make live albums. They’re infinitely cheaper to record, and if the band is really cooking, they make a great inducement to get fans to come out to shows. Of all the bands who really ought to make a live album, it’s especially exciting to see one from Metropolitan Klezmer.

    Tegan & Sara @ Terminal 5

    http://blog.melanism.com/ 2008/ 05/ tegan-sara-terminal-5.html

First of all, I had been trying to get tickets for this show off Craigslist for months but I finally scored some (at face value no less) a week before the show and I'm glad I did. Jenny and I ended up standing on the third floor of Terminal 5 because, frankly, the rabid Tegan & Sara fans were

Wow, 2 hip hop gigs in a couple of weeks is some sort of new record for me. Though when the MC's are a diminutive Jewish dude from Cincinnati and a guy from Essex with a gigantic beard I must concede that I'm probably dipping my toe into safe waters.
