http://bergie.iki.fi/ blog/ site_structure_planning_with_writemaps.htmlWriteMaps.com is a handy web-based tool for planning website structures in a mind map -like format. The tool allows for storage and working on the designs in collaborative fashion. I have been toying for quite a while with the idea that mind maps could be automatically converted to Midgard -compatible site structures, and the JSON format provided by WriteMaps seemed to support the idea.

Now receiving images from phone
http://teroheikkinen.iki.fi/ blog/ view/ now_receiving_images_from_phone.htmlI've long time wanted to send images from my mobile phone instantaneously to web. One could say that flickr is a perfect solution for that. But still I decided to take an alternative route to this goal. The key to success is to get a flat rate priced data connection to your phone, Shozu and a some sort of interface to your website that Shozu supports.

More tuning. Using lighty (lighttpd) and apache on same server
http://teroheikkinen.iki.fi/ blog/ view/ more_tuning-using_lighty-lighttpd-and_a…Earlier Midcom framework archieved an option to server public attachments direcly from filesystem without lauching the entire framework. With sites with large number of static content lighttpd server gives even more performance and responsiviness to the system.

More Midcom performance available!
http://teroheikkinen.iki.fi/ blog/ view/ more_midcom_performance_available.htmlToday Bergie and I had a little hacking session with Midcom attachment serving. While Bergie did most of the dirty job, I had some to test and write. Earlier Midcom got a working content cache. It did improve performance significantly but still if your page contains a lots of attachments the server load would jump to clounds.

MidCOM content cache rides again
http://bergie.iki.fi/ blog/ midcom_content_cache_rides_again.htmlMidgard is quite a huge framework, and so caching is needed to keep things efficient. To that effect, MidCOM 2.4 in 2005 added a major feature of caching generated pages until they needed reconstructing. However, with the 2005 technology the caching system proved to be troublesome: Berkeley DB corruption, faulty invalidation mechanisms and other problems.

Yesterday I added trash can browsing and undeletion support into Asgard, the new administrative interface.

Midgard does the Tango
http://bergie.iki.fi/ blog/ midgard_does_the_tango.htmlAs initially instigated by Tuomas and later prepared by Joonas, Midgard has now switched to the Tango icons and colors. This helps to modernize the look-and-feel and make it more consistent across components.
