a quick one: keeping your place clean May 11th, 2008 You know, I’m not one to toot my own horn, but I keep my home, car, and office pretty clean and tidy. I’d like to think that this comes naturally to me, but it really doesn’t. It takes a concerted effort to keep the cobwebs out of my brain and out of my living space.

Some categories of mess: MINIMESS — A contained, clearly delineated pocket of mess within a larger area, as on a counter, in a closet or a drawer, or on a bulletin board or a refrigerator. CYCLICAL MESS — A mess that waxes and wanes in cycles.

One of the real dilemmas in a growing church, or an effective church – a church that reaches its mission – is that it’s always changing and therefore creating differing levels of chaos. Growing things change. Changing things cause friction.

I sit before my computer, surrounded by the debris of a month of not actually putting anything away. I hear, out of the corner of my eye (and I am aware of the metaphor cross) the merest crinkle, the lightest warning.

STAACH Table 2 - Black Dinner last night was fantastic. Just a few friends and a home cooked meal. We sat around a beautiful table and talked about work, reality t.v., and a certain pop star with some serious issues. I doubt dinner around the coffee table would have been so memorable, probably because of the table height, and our innate messiness.
