    http://perceptivetravel.com/ blog/ 2008/ 03/ 20/ offerings-to-the-gods/

This is why I love to travel; to see little gems like these ema wooden prayer cards at the Meiji-jingu Shrine, Harajuku, Tokyo. I wish I could meet the author/artist and find out what he/she was asking for…. Related posts: Climbing Mt.

= Why does only Omotesando look like a French boulevard? “This broad, tree-lined promenade had been designed as the ceremonial entrance to [Meiji Jingu] the vast Shinto shrine honouring the Meiji emperor” Shutting Out the Sun pg 146

Memories of Japan - The Gardens

    http://atypicallife.wordpress.com/ 2007/ 12/ 12/ japanese-gardens/

To visit a garden in Japan is to take a step away from reality for a moment and step back in time. Many of these gardens are an oasis in the center of a very vibrant and bustling country. Once you step foot within their walls it’s really hard to imagine all of that action going on outside.

Meiji Jingu Shrine’s Best Kept Secret

    http://quiltingsword.com/ 2007/ 12/ 09/ meiji-jingu-shrines-best-kept-secret/

Meiji Jingu is one of the largest shrines in Japan. It can be accessed easily from the bustling Harajuku Station. And indeed it receives many visitors, especially from overseas. Because it’s about a 15 minute walk from my work, I often go there when I need to get away from the dense activity of Tokyo.

    Prayers and Weddings

    http://mykanjirume.blogspot.com/ 2007/ 12/ prayers-and-weddings.html

Young lady writing a prayer I spent the day in Yoyogi-koen and Meiji Jingu Shrine. This is the most gaijin I've seen in one place. There were many weddings happening as well as young ones in their Kimonos and Haori Hakamas. Wedding procession Happy family with son in his Haori Hakama
