I am soon be using oxyhost.com. If you want to see it go to ccna01.oxyhost.com/blog. For now it is the same but the Oxyhost servers have far fewer restrictions so it may be worthwhile to make the switch.

It must be the warmer weather. Ubuntu happenings are springing up everywhere in Boston. Just five days after Boston fans gathered at an upscale downtown nightspot to celebrate the release of Hardy Heron, Ubuntu’s latest operating system, a local school technologist kicked off a new organization to promote open source software in education.

If you read my previous post, I mentioned a fellow on my Local Linux User Group, Michael Ward. As I was writing the post, all sorts of memories came flooding back to me. Michael was the first to help me install Linux on my computer. I drove over to his place and he installed RedHat for me.

On my local Linux User Group (LUG) mailinglist, a question was asked on how to make a bootable CD. They thought they could just copy over the Grub file then set the BIOS to boot from the CD first. Their subject was "my dumb linux question of the week". First of all, a good LUG should live by the rule that there are no dumb questions.

To add or remove a user from a Unix/Linux box, you can edit the password and group files. However, whenever you make an edit to such an important file, there is always the chance that something will go wrong and you’ll end up rendering an account, or possibly a system, unusable.

It was stunning. This is something I have been missing from my life for about 10 years.

On Tuesday I was in Heaven. Geek heaven, to be accurate. Google's Chicago office. The smell of…was that fresh salsa and flauta's?… wafted through the room. OLPC users who shave Friendly green computers were tucked under numerous arms.

Look at this website every couple of days. New information is constantly being added. And to keep in touch we should have a meeting(kind of hard for you Michael), but we can have it online here. I can create another page set aside just for that. I would like to know what you think soon.
