Last weekend, I finally managed to read the entire transcript of the Karan Thapar – Shabana Azmi interview and stumbled upon this bit in which she comments on the need for reform within the Muslim community: Karan Thapar:

Send Brandon Shaffer Home
http://thecoloradoindex.typepad.com/ the_colorado_index/ 2008/ 09/ send-brandon-…If I were to pick one politician that I would most like to see out of the legislature, it would be Colorado State Senator Brandon Shaffer. He is a lawyer who doesn't believe that the public should be protected from bad judges. He wrote a deceptive law that did the opposite of what it appeared to do.

Saudi Gazette translates this report from the Arabic daily Okaz. The story of two girls trying to get their forced marriages overturned highlights a lingering problem in Saudi jurisprudence: if a defendant simply chooses to not go to court, the trial is delayed.

Mark G and Other Stuff
http://thecoloradoindex.typepad.com/ the_colorado_index/ 2008/ 08/ mark-g-and-ot…One of the projects that I have wanted to take on was an examination of the law practice of Mark G and use it as a model of the kinds of lawyers I want to get rid of. I'm not providing his whole name because to do so would ruin a Google hook later.
