So I’ve been somewhat distracted over the last week or so playing with Google’s new search-based keyword tool, now in public beta test. SKT is primarily meant for AdWords advertisers, but it’s open to anyone, just like the older (and still active) AdWords Keyword Tool (AKT).

Nowadays, there are a number of keyword and competitive intelligence tools on the market. One of my favorites, and one that we’ve used for several years now, is Wordtracker. Wordtracker has a database of about 330 million search terms which are updated weekly.

When you have run out of ideas for keywords to target in your next pay per click advertising campaign, try using Google’s Search-Based Keyword Tool. This tool will analyze your website to find new keywords that you are not targeting. You type in the specific web page that you want to analyze then add your most important keywords and the keyword tool does the rest.

Thanks to Josh Fialkoff for commenting on yesterday’s post about Google’s Search-based keyword tool. This tool is mostly good for using to optimize your pay-per-click campaigns, but you can use it for search too. What it does is analyze your website, or specific pages on your website, to help you uncover keywords that you can target but may not be targeting.

From the Google Adwords blog, Google announced the release of a new search based keyword tool! I have to hand it to them, they really do provide a great wealth of information for us online marketers to have successful campaigns, I think a little more transparency will be enough to be very happy with them but they are working on that, I think.
