Audiences have been there for a while (hello, TiVo). Conferences and conventions are getting into the act, albeit from their tech-savvy attendees (hello, uStream).

The future of housing in this economy is on everyone’s mind. Last week the opportunity to present a keynote speech to the annual Colorado Housing Conference gave me a chance to re-visit this topic. The conference is one that focuses especially on policy related to developing affordable housing.

Nobel laureate and former President Jimmy Carter will give the opening address this week at "Advancing the Consensus," a conference at Emory University School of Law celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Free tickets are still available to Carter's keynote speech at 2:30 p.m.

 Celebrate October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month at the DiversABILITY Employment Summit on October 17. Join employers from nationally recognized companies as well as companies from around the state as they share best practices for recruiting and retaining workers with disABILITIES.

Even though the RSS Calendar widget in my sidebar always displays my upcoming speaking engagements, I like to let my readers know where I'll be presenting. As always, I hope that some of you can find the time (and money) to attend an event or two.

We all would like some good news about the future. Here is some. One of the most impressive people I have met is Elon Musk, whom I have seen at Future In Review conferences. He was founder of PayPal as well as Zip2 Corporation, and after selling them poured his efforts and money into two primary endeavors, the all-electric car company Tesla Motors, and a private space launch company, SpaceX.
