Sometimes it’s hard to remember, but in 1996, after Mellow Gold, Beck was just another goofy guy with an acoustic guitar and a quirky hit single. He could have easily disappeared from the cultural radar, but instead he came out with Odelay, an incredibly diverse artistic statement of an album that cemented his place in the rock pantheon.
